Maharashtra governor CP Radhakrishnan on Thursday inaugurated the Sadgamaya 2025 residential cultural retreat at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in the district. The three-day-long retreat is aimed at bringing together the faculties and academicians of the institutions for engagement with India’s philosophical, cultural, and spiritual traditions.
Addressing the gathering, the governor underscored the enduring significance of India’s ancient wisdom in informing modern science, governance, and ethical living. “Knowledge without spirituality becomes ego. But with devotion, it becomes wisdom,” he said, adding that the integral role of Amma’s teachings in harmonizing science with inner growth.
He also highlighted the country's historical contributions including the concept of zero, ethical frameworks, and advanced metallurgical practices, and called for cultural values to be recognized as the bedrock of economic and social development.
The retreat features paper presentations, keynote talks, cultural sessions, and discussions on various important topics like teaching with purpose: a vocation of the heart and culture as the basis of the Indian economy.
