Man impersonating as a police officer arrested in Coimbatore

The Coimbatore police have arrested a man for impersonating a police officer and deceiving the public. The individual, identified as Vinu (34) from Kotagiri, was posing as a police sub-inspector and claiming to be on ministerial escort duty. Vinu had moved into a house with Dinesh, a resident of Eachanari, under this false identity.
Dinesh became suspicious when the house remained locked for several days. He used a spare key to open the house, where he discovered items such as a gun, a police baton, a metal detector, and an ID card falsely identifying Vinu as a Tamil Nadu Police officer. Concerned about the situation, Dinesh reported the matter to the Madukkarai police. Acting on his complaint, the police arrested Vinu and placed him in custody. It was later revealed that Vinu already had a similar case of impersonation registered against him at the Mettupalayam police station.
