Mayor supports councillors stand on temporary workers issue

Erode Mayor Nagarathinam Subramaniam supported the councillors stand of protecting the interest of the temporary workers working in engineering, health and sanitation workers who staged dharna for the 3rd day in succession in Erode corporation premises. 

At the corporation  council meeting held on Monday, all 60 councillors opposed a new GO ordering corporations and municipalities to engage outsourcing agencies to engage workers in the sections.  They said that hundreds of workers working under the SHGs now would suffer much if the GO is enforced. So, they pleaded to the civic body to appeal to the government to reconsider the decision.   Then, the Mayor said the views of the councillors on the issue would be sent to the government and the interest of workers would be protected. The councillors appreciated her stand.
