Mettupalayam police conducted routine checks on private bus drivers at the Mettupalayam Bus Stand to ensure road safety on the 40 km highway stretch between Mettupalayam and Coimbatore, known for frequent accidents. Following orders from District Superintendent of Police Karthikeyan, the inspection was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Utkota Balaji, Inspector Manikandan, and Assistant Inspector Anand Kumar.
The checks focused on verifying if drivers had valid licences and whether they were driving under the influence of alcohol. The police also issued warnings that speeding vehicles would be fined, and drivers' licences could be revoked.
