The state electricity minister V Senthil Balaji on Monday kick-started various developmental works including road laying works worth Rs 37 crore in the city.
The minister inaugurated road relaying works worth Rs 5.26 crore at Muthamizh Nagar in east zone,
Gandhi street in north zone and Dr Radhakrishnan road in central zone in the city.
He also inaugurated installation of central median and street lights worth Rs 19.34 crore on Sathi road from Ganapathy to Saravanan silks, construction of shops and other extension works worth Rs 3.07 crore at MGR market, construction of shops and other extension works worth Rs 3.86 crore at Anna market, and construction of storm water drains worth Rs 4.98 crore from Lakshmi Nagar till Siruvani water tank in ward 87 and 88 in the city.
The minister also inaugurated the art works that were done using solid wastes at the cost of
Rs 53 lakh at open auditorium near Periyakulam in the city under smart city missions.
The district collector Kranthikumar Pati, city mayor Kalpana
Anandkumar, corporation commissioner M Pratap and others were
present
at the event.
