A building to house the Federation of Women Self-Help Groups, constructed at a cost of Rs 75.45 lakh under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme was declared open by the Minister for Information and Tamil Development, Mr. M. P. Saminathan, at Mangalam near Tiruppur on Wednesday. He also launched the road improvement work between Vettuvapalayam and Poomalur being undertaken at a cost of Rs 73.05 lakh with NABARD assistance.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister explained how the DMK government was implementing schemes like the Chief Minister's breakfast scheme, Pudumaippen, Varumun Kappom, Innuyir Kappom Nammai Kakkum 48, Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam and Kalaignar Mahalir Uthavi Thittam for the overall well being of people. The Innuyir Kappom Nammai Kakkum 48 was intended to save precious lives in accidents, The scheme ensures free emergency treatment for accident victims within 48 hours. Those who participated in the inauguration included Mr. Velusamy, Block Development Officer, Mr. Marudachalamoorthy, Mangalam panchayat president.
