Minister declares open MLA office in Erode Corpn

Housing Minister S Muthusamy declared open Erode East MLA Thirumagan Evara's office at the Erode Corporation Head Office at Erode  on Saturday following poor condition of government owned  MLA office at Erode Surampatti. 
The office was remained unused for the past 6 years so that it needs many repair works. 

The MLA's predecessor KS Thennarasu used  a room in the PWD Kalingarayan guest house near Collectorate all along his 5 years of tenure as his predecessors VC Chandrakumar (DMDK) and NKKP Raja (DMK) faced many problems during their tenure personally and in public life while using the office. They were not able to get reelected again. So, thennarasu feared to use the office. 

Now,  as the PWD didn't attend the repair  work in time after the 2021 assembly poll, despite a plea from the newly elected MLA Thirumagan so far,  the erstwhile Mayor Kumar Muregesh's room in the old building of Erode Corporation was allotted for the MLA where he or his PA would meet public and receive their petitions during the working days of the Corporation. 

He, so far, met public from his house at Erode. It may be recalled that in 1989, the late CM M Karunanidhi ordered allotment of a room in local body offices for the MLA concerned of the area to meet people and hear their grievances. 

Later, in his tenure from 2006-11, he built separate office for all MLAs in their segments itself to meet people. But, many MLA offices including Gobi, Perundurai, Erode West etc were remain unused, sources said.  

At the function,  functionaries of all alliance parties of DMK, including Mayor Nagarathinam, ex MLA RM Palanisamy, Congress lawyers wing state secretary CM Rajendran, councillor EP Ravi, South district president Makkal Raajan, human rights wing district president vinodh Mariyappa, minority wing functionaries MM Harshad, KN Basha and lawyer Vijay  attended the function.
