Minister inspects Flood hit areas

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, S.Muthusamy personally visited the flooded areas in Erode district due to the flood caused by Cauvery River in Erode and conducted a survey. 

Due to heavy rains in the state, more than two lakh cubic feet of water is flowing into the Mettur Dam. The Mettur dam has reached its full capacity of 120 feet, and the Cauvery river in Erode is inundated due to the release of 2 lakh cubic feet of water coming into the dam. 

More than 200 houses have been engulfed in flood in Ward No. 15, Cauvery Road, Muniappan Kovil Street and other areas along the Cauvery River in Erode town. 


13 families in flooded areas have been safely accommodated in camps in temples and panchayat union middle school in Ward No. 15 Muniappan Kovil street. 


He inspected the provision of food and essential items to those who have been safely accommodated in the camps.

 And through the health department medical assistance was provided to the people living along the river. Police department are carrying out security work to prevent the residents of the area to bathe in the river, wash clothes, take selfies, etc. 

During this study, Mr. V. Selvaraj,  Deputy Mayor of Erode Corporation, Mr. Sivakumar, Commissioner of Erode Corporation,officials of concerned departments were present.
