Minister, MP inspect rain hit areas of Nilgiris

Minister of Tamil Development and Information  M.P. Swaminathan along with the Nilgiris MP A Raja and Government Chief Whip Mr. K. Ramachandran inspected  the safety measures taken in the landslide area on the Ittalar -
Pempatti road and rain hit areas in Kuntha taluk in the Nilgiris district on Tuesday.
Following this, the MP and the Chief Whip presented relief items including rice and blankets to 45 people from 20 families staying at the relief camp at the Udagai Jal Higher Secondary School, and visited the medical camp organized by the Department of Health and Human Services.


Furthermore, a review meeting was held with government officials at the Additional District Collector's Office, chaired by the MP and Chief Whip, regarding precautionary measures in view of the southwest monsoon.
Later, at the Additional District Collector's Office, they presented an assistance of Rs. 8,000/- each on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Government to 8 families whose houses were partially damaged due to the southwest monsoon, while the Nilgiris MP presented an assistance of Rs. 10,000 each from his own funds.
Later, the MP told reporters:17 houses have been partially damaged due to the rains. 


275 people have been accommodated in relief camps. All measures have been taken to provide them with essential facilities including food and medical facilities in an efficient manner. 
The crop damage has been assessed and relief has been provided accordingly.
