Higher Education Minister Kovi Chezhiyan assured to consult CM to establish an university in the name of late CM Karunanidhi.
While inspecting Erode CN College on Thursday with housing minister S Muthusamy, MPs KE Prakash, Anthiyur Selvaraj and Collector Rajagopal Sunkara, he said that the CM intended to take over the government aided college as government college and establish an IAS academy, indoor stadium and modern library in the college. As the President gave accent to the bill passed in the Assembly to take over the college, he came to inspect the college and the plans for the 3 projects and sent proposals to the government in this regard to carry out the works speedily.
He said that TN has many varsities in the name of many leaders. But Kalaignar himself is an unviversity. But no varsity is existed on his name. So, the issue would be taken to the knowledge of CM. He denied there is no proposal to close down Barathiyar university PG research centre in Perundurai. He said in June 4000 college lecturers posts would be filled up. Besides 1000 guest lecturers would be regularised. The SET exam will be held in April and October. The government is fighting against UGC amendment Act in assembly, people's forum and court.
We will get victory in the issue. The Governor is the stumbling block in further promoting higher education institutions in the state, he worried.
