Minister warns Industries that cause Environmental Pollution

Housing Minister Muthusamy has warned that stern action will be taken against factories that cause environmental pollution.  World No Tobacco Day is observed today on behalf of the Department of Public Health.

The students awareness rally was flagged off at the Kalingarayan Illam by the Minister..
He said the day is observed around the world to raise awareness about the harms caused by tobacco.  About 2,500 people die every day due to tobacco use in India. It is very sad that 9 lakh people die every year due to tobacco use.

Strict action is being taken against those who sell banned tobacco products on behalf of the government .Police continue to file cases .Apart from tobacco,  pollution causes cancer .So polluting factories must realize their responsibility and act as per rule.  Otherwise they will be severely punished.  Water pollution causes cancer.

So all measures have been taken to prevent water pollution and now the water pollution has been greatly reduced and the environmental pollution in the Perundurai Sipcot area has been reduced due to the continuous action of the government. The district Collector is also constantly monitoring the situation and the factories should cooperate with the government to protect public health.

Appropriate steps will be taken to set up a cancer treatment unit at Erode Government Hospital or Perundurai Government Medical College Hospital. Similar efforts will be made to obtain modern equipment such as mammograms to diagnose breast cancer.  Collector H Krishnaunni, and PA to deputy director (health) Raju were present.
