Minorities Commission plans to hold church representatives meeting at Erode

Minorities Commission plans to hold church representatives meeting at Erode

TN state minorities commission chairman CJ Arun informed that the commission is planning to hold a meeting of church representatives shortly
He held a meeting of minorities at the collectorate and distributed various government benefits to them.
Later to a question   regarding HC suggestion of creating an administrative set up on the model of HR and CE department to protect the properties of churches in the state from being misapropriated, he said that after getting the views of church representatives, the commission would send its suggestions to the government.
In reply to another question, he said that he didn't receive any representation from minorities regarding sanctioning of 4 percent quota in tenders for minorities as given in Karnataka. If any suggestion is received, suitable recommendation would be made to the government.
To a question why the government didn't take action on HC order directing the government to take over its 12.66 acre land within CSI school Erode, he said that it showed the government's empathy with the minorities and its interest on their welfare as taking any action would affect them.
He  said that most of the grievances aired here are related to creation of Kabarsthan,  Cemetery, sanctioning of NOC and patta for churches and mosques. The government already directed the collectors to look into such issues. The commission received similar complaints in Tirupur also. The commission covered 14 districts so far and it would cover the rest of the districts before December to redress their grievances.
The government issued a GO to appoint minorities welfare officer in each district to redress minorities grievances. Only in 5 districts such officers were appointed and we will urge government to appoint such officers in all districts without delay. Collector Rajagopal Sunkara presided over the meeting.
