Modi inaugurates Rs.31,400 crores worth Central and State Govt projects today

In view of the Prime Minister NarendraModi’s visit to Chennai today to inaugurate several schemes/projects, a high level five stage security has been made.
After attending a programme in Hyderabad today the Prime Minister arrives in Chennai Airport by an Indian Airforce aircraft at 5.10 pm. He is being received by Tamilnadu Governor R.N Ravi, Chief Minister M.K Stalin, several ministers, senior party leaders and senior officials. From there he will go to the Naval Base in Island Grounds and from there travel by road to Nehru Stadium where he will dedicate to the nation 11 Central and State Government schemes worth Rs. 31,400 crores. After the programme he will leave by road to Chennai Airport at 7.35 pm and leave to Delhi.

This is the first time the Prime Minister is visiting Chennai after the DMK government came to power in Tamilnadu.Elaborate security arrangements have been made in Chennai under Shankar Jival, Commissioner, Chennai City Police. Police sources said that a five stage security blanket comprising a total of 22,000 police personnel headed by 5 Additional Commissioners, 8 Joint Commissioners and DIGs, 29 Deputy Commissioners, several Superintendents of Police has been thrown around the vicinity of the Prime Minister’s arrival and programme venue. Surveillance has been intensified in and around the programme venue. Persons with suspicious identities have been vacated from lodges. 

Drone and other man less flying have been banned around the city. The major projects/schemes the Prime Minister will dedicate today include the 262 kms Express High Way between Chennai-Bangalore via Andhra, 21 kms long two level four lane elevated corridor between Chennai Port Trust and Maduravoyal built at a cost of Rs, 5,850 crore, 4 lane road between Neraluru-Dharmapuri at an outlay of Rs.3,870crore and 4 lane road between Meensuriti-Chidambaram at an outlay of Rs.720 crore. 


The Prime Minister also launches Rs 28, 500 crores new works including railway station facelifts at an outlay of Rs 3800 crore for Chennai-Egmore, Rameswaram, Madurai, Katpadi, Kanniyakumari railway stations. He also inaugurates works on a Rs 1400 crore multimodal logistics park at Mapedu, The Prime Minister will handover 1,152 low cost houses built at a cost of Rs 116 crore to beneficiaries under  the  Urban Habitat Scheme.
