Monitoring Officer inspects Flood hit areas

Erode District Monitoring Officer and Overseas Manpower  Corporation Managing Director Dr. C. N. Maheswaran inspected the Cauvery River flood affected areas of Kandhanpattarai and Basuveswarar Street  in Bhavani town on Wednesday.  He personally visited the relief camps where civilians are safely accommodated.

As more than 1,50,000 cubic feet of excess water has been flowing from the Mettur dam in the Cauvery river for the past four days due to the southwest monsoon, the public living on the banks of the river in Bhavani taluk and town were hit. All have been accommodated in safe places.

Also, in Kodumudi and Erode circles, the families living in low-lying areas on the banks of the river  have been flooded.  So, they have also been safely evacuated and sheltered in the nearby camps.
So far, 1056 persons belonging to 343 families have been safely sheltered in the camps in Erode talk due to the flood in the river.  Immediate medical treatment was arranged and essential items were supplied to the public in the flood-affected areas. During this inspection, District Revenue Officer S. Santoshini Chandra and other officials accompanied him.
