Monthly power tariff assessment planned: Minister

Monthly power tariff assessment system would be introduced shortly, said Electricity Minister Senthilbalaji.
Campaigning votes in Erode East bypoll at Karungalpalayam on Sunday, he said now assessors shortage is prevailed. So,  tenders were invited to fix smart electric meters. After its fixation in houses, the monthly assessment would begin.

Then redeployment of the surplus assessors would be considered. Compared to the tariff in 2010, the tariff was hiked many fold after Jayalalithaa came to power in 2011. But, AIADMK men hushed up such fact.  Due to the wrong decisions of ADMK rule, TNEB suffered with huge loss. So,  power tariff was hiked to streamline TNEB, he noted. 

He said though ADMK contested as single entity in the Assembly, LS and urban local body polls, it didn't win.  Now  ADMK is weak and divided. Besides for the past 20 months, CM enforced various welfare schemes for people.  It would ensure massive mandate for DMK in the bypoll, he noted.
