Kanimozhi recounted the numerous life lessons she learned from Karunanidhi during election campaigns and literary events.
She highlighted his unwavering support for DMK cadres, even during election defeats, noting that he always led the party to thank the voters, regardless of the outcome.
His ability to inspire and uplift his followers was a recurring theme in her speech.
She also praised Karunanidhi for his pro-poor welfare schemes, mentioning how his introduction of the Public Distribution System (PDS), the creation of a separate welfare board for slum dwellers, and the inclusion of women in the police force were groundbreaking initiatives.
She acknowledged the late leader's significant contributions to farmers, particularly through the provision of free electricity, which not only boosted agricultural productivity but also attracted young people to farming.
Kanimozhi touched upon Karunanidhi's efforts to uplift marginalised sections of society, particularly his pioneering work in recognising the rights and welfare of transgenders.
She mentioned the Marriage Assistance Scheme, which he introduced to encourage girls to complete their education, thereby preventing early marriages.
