In a heartwarming display of communal harmony, a Muslim couple from Belagavi district in Karnataka conducted the wedding of their adopted Hindu son as per Hindu rituals, drawing widespread praise.
Mehboob and his wife Noorjan, residents of Bastawad village in Hukkeri taluk, had adopted two Hindu children — brothers Somasekar and Vasanth Poojar — nearly two decades ago after their parents passed away.
At the time, the boys were just four and two years old, and had no relatives willing to care for them.
Despite having five children of their own, the couple raised the brothers with equal affection. Notably, they did not compel them to convert and ensured they were brought up following Hindu customs and traditions, while also supporting their education and well-being.
Recently, Mehboob and Noorjan arranged the marriage of Somasekar with a Hindu bride.
The wedding was conducted in accordance with Hindu rituals, with the couple personally overseeing and participating in the ceremonies. The gesture has been widely appreciated on social media, with many hailing it as a powerful example of unity and coexistence beyond caste and religious lines.
