National level badminton tournament in Erode

A national level badminton tournament titled 'SKM Best Open' was started yesterday at the Erode Nilgiri Badminton Academy on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Badminton Association and Erode District Badminton Associations. The opening ceremony of the tournament was presided over by the President of the Erode District Badminton Association, Sellayan, aka Raja.  
Secretary Surendran presided over the function. Earlier, SKM Managing Director Shivkumar welcomed the participants. The tournament is being held in two categories, doubles and mixed doubles, in a knockout format. 
More than 100 teams from various states including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, 
Telangana, Puducherry, and Madhya Pradesh are participating in these tournaments and showcasing their talents. 
These tournaments will be held today (15th) and tomorrow (16th). The prize-giving ceremony will be held on the final day. 
The association executives said that the first place team in the men's doubles category will be awarded Rs. 1.20 lakh, the second place team Rs. 80 thousand, the first place team in the women's doubles category Rs. 70 thousand, and the second place team Rs. 50 thousand.
