National Library Week Celebrated at Nirmala College

The Department of Library at Nirmala College for Women, Coimbatore, observed National Library Week on December 3 with a vibrant celebration. The event was presided over by Rev. Dr. Sr. Kulandhai Therese, Secretary of the College, and Rev. Dr. Sr. Mary Fabiola, Principal.
Dr. Sr. Jaculine, Head of the Department of Library, delivered the welcome address, setting the tone for the program. A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Young Distinguished Writer Awards, honouring student authors who have made significant literary contributions. Awardees included Shree, a postgraduate student of English Literature known for her globally recognised works, and Janani and Mariya Nisha, undergraduate and postgraduate students who have also published multiple books.
Over 200 students participated, with faculty members emphasising the importance of books and the role of libraries in promoting knowledge and creativity. The event not only celebrated literature but also inspired budding writers, reaffirming the college's commitment to promoting literary talent.
