Tamil Nadu Ministers Mr. M.P. Saminathan, Minister for Tamil Development, Information & Publicity, and Mrs. N. Kayalvizhi Selvaraj, Minister for Adi Dravidar Welfare, inaugurated a newly constructed daily market building at Dharapuram Municipality on Tuesday. The facility has been built at an estimated cost of ₹2.03 crore under the Kalaignar Urban Development Project.
The inaugural function was attended by Erode MP Mr. K.E. Prakash, Dharapuram Municipal Chairman Mr. Papukkannan, Vice Chairman Mr. M. Ravichandran, Municipal Commissioner Mr. S. Addressing the gathering, Minister Mr. M.P. Saminathan said the State government led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is committed to implementing schemes that directly benefit people. “The Chief Minister has directed that all completed projects be quickly handed over for public use. In this connection, new drinking water project works were also inaugurated today at Vellakovil Municipality,” he said.
The Minister recalled several welfare measures introduced by the DMK government, including free bus travel for women, loan waivers for women self-help groups, waiver of jewelry loans, provision of electricity connections for 1.5 lakh farmers, and the Kannoli Kaapom scheme for school students.
He further highlighted flagship initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme, Magalir Urimai Thogai (Women’s Rights Allowance), Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam (Healthcare at Doorsteps), Stalinudan Naan (Stalin with You), and the Tamil Pudhuvan scheme, all of which, he said, are designed to improve the quality of life of ordinary citizens.
The new market at Dharapuram, situated at Survey Ward-6, Block-3, in front of CSI Church, has been designed to provide modern infrastructure for both traders and consumers. Officials said the project will improve trading facilities, ensure better sanitation, and meet the growing needs of daily shoppers.
The Ministers assured that the government will continue to implement urban development projects and welfare programmes in Tirupur district, with the aim of ensuring inclusive growth and social welfare.
