New SUV's for Panchayat Union Chairman to monitor development works

Municipal Administration Minister Mr.K.N.Nehru today on Wednessday at Salem District Collectorate in the presence of District Collector Mr.S.Karmegam, flagged off 18 new Scorpio brand SUV vehicles for use by the Panchayat Chairmen.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announced on April 22, 2022 under Rule 110 of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly that new vehicles will be provided to all panchayat union committee leaders in Tamil Nadu.
Based on that, following the announcement of purchase of new vehicles for 388 panchayat union committee leaders in Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister flagged off 200 new vehicles worth 25 crore including two new vehicles for Salem and Veerapandi Panchayat union Chairmen at the Secretariat on May 10, 2023. 
On Wednessday in Salem district, for the use of the remaining 18 chairmen of panchayat unions Panamarathuppatti, Ayodhyapatnam, Vazhappadi, Yercaud, Pethanayakkanpalayam, Attur, Kengavalli, Thalivasal, Kolathur, Nangavalli, Mechery, Tharamangalam, Omalur, Kadayampatti, Sangakiri, Edappadi, Konkanapuram and Makutanjavadi new vehicles provided.
Panchayat union chairmen have been given new Scorpio vehicles after 13 years in order to enable them to monitor the development projects being carried out in the respective areas said the said, Minister of Municipal Administration Mr. K. N. Nehru. Salem Municipal Commissioner Mr.C.Balachander, Additional Collector (Development) of Rural Development Agency Maru.Alarmel Manga, District Revenue Officer Dr.B.Menaka, Salem North Assembly Member were present on the occasion. Mr. R.Irajendran, Salem West Assembly Member and others were present.
