State Planning Commission Deputy Chairman J. Jayaranjan said that a new TN start up and innovation mission (TANSIM) centre will be set up by the Tamil Nadu government in Erode, Madurai and Tirunelveli districts.
A consultative meeting in this regard was held at the District Collectorate on Tuesday in the presence of Collector H. Krishnanunni.
The Deputy Chairman who chaired the meeting said the first phase will see the establishment of new employment centers by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the districts of Erode, Madurai and Tirunelveli with the aim of making Tamil Nadu a leader in national level innovation and industrial development. The Erode Center will cover Erode, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Dharmapuri, Salem, Namakkal, Krishnagiri and Nilgiris districts. Chief Executive Officer Shivaraja Ramanathan explained the basics and functions of the new center and the benefits available to young entrepreneurs out of it.
Representatives of industry associations, engineering colleges and government departments in the Erode district expressed their views on setting up the center. Participants were also briefed on the doubts raised about the functioning of the new business center.
The meeting was attended by Additional Collector (Development) L. Madhubalan, State Planning Commission Additional Member M. Vijayabaskar, Women's Project Director Ketsilima Amalini and officials.
