Nilgiris Collector M Aruna felicitated the winners of various cultural activities on the last day of the Flower Show at Ooty Botanical Garden on Monday. The 126th Flower Show, which began on May 10th, lasted for 11 days and attracted numerous tourists and flower enthusiasts.
The show featured more than 35,000 flower pots filled with colorful blooms, creating a stunning spectacle for visitors. One of the main highlights was a massive 35-foot Disney Castle made of flowers, designed to attract children. The castle included Disney characters such as Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald Duck, crafted from 100,000 flowers.
In tribute to the Nilgiris Mountain Railway train, a replica of the NMR train's steam engine was created using 80,000 carnation flowers, delighting the visitors. A total of 167,972 people visited the Flower Show. Over 100 people participated in various cultural activities organised by the Horticulture Department. Nilgiris Collector M Aruna presented prizes and certificates to the winners. District Superintendent of Police Sundara Vadivel, Additional Collector Koushik, Associate Director of the Horticulture Department Shipila Mary, and other government officials attended the event.
