Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Thanneru presided over a meeting with officers from the Department of Horticulture and Plantation Crops, along with the Seed Department, at the district collector's office on September 13.
During the meeting, the Collector emphasised the need to ensure the availability of key plantation crop seeds like beetroot and carrot to farmers without any scarcity. She stressed that the seeds should be supplied without adulteration, and their prices should not be increased beyond the existing rates. Additionally, she urged that short films demonstrating new cultivation technologies be produced and shared with farmers to raise awareness about the latest methods.
Key attendees included Deputy Director of Seed Research Sundaravadivelu, Deputy Director of the Horticulture Department Anitha, Seed Testing Officer Narghees, NCMS Secretary Karthikeyan, Seed Inspector Ramesh, and Professor Raja, President of the Horticulture Department, among other officials.
