The Nilgiris Mountain Railway (NMR), recognised by UNESCO, suspended its services today due to landslides caused by heavy rains over the past two days. Landslides occurred on the tracks between Kallar and Adderli, affecting the route between Mettupalayam and Ooty. The train scheduled to depart from Mettupalayam at 7:10 AM was halted, and railway staff inspected the tracks, finding them unsafe for operation until debris could be cleared.
As a result, the railway administration canceled today's NMR services, leaving many pre-booked tourists disappointed.
