Senior AIADMK leader and former minister K.A. Sengottaiyan has clarified that he did not issue any ten-day deadline for the merger of AIADMK factions, asserting that his statement was misinterpreted by a section of the media.
Speaking to reporters in Coimbatore after arriving to attend a wedding, Sengottaiyan said, “I never mentioned a ten-day deadline for the merger. I only said that the discussions should begin within ten days and that a decision could be reached in about a month or a month and a half. Some sections of the media reported it incorrectly.”
When asked whether the wedding event he was attending would host any merger-related discussions, Sengottaiyan replied, “There have been no such talks yet. But good things will happen soon.”
Responding to another query about whether the AIADMK, once known for its strong internal discipline, had weakened over time, the senior leader smiled and said, “That’s your opinion,” before leaving the venue.
Sengottaiyan’s remarks come amid ongoing speculation about possible reunification efforts within the AIADMK, which remains divided following years of internal rifts.
