No escape - Prisoner No. 15528 is a lesson to remember!

No escape - Prisoner No. 15528 is a lesson to remember!

In March 2024, former Prime Minister Deve Gowda's grandson, former Karnataka Chief Minister and current Union Minister Kumaraswamy's son, and former MP Prajwal Revanna (33) was accused of sexually assaulting several women. More than 3,000 videos of him being intimate with several women were released, creating a stir across the country.
Five women, including a domestic helper and a woman president of Majatha Gram Panchayat, complained that he had sexually assaulted them. Based on this, cases of rape were registered against him. On May 31, 2024, the police arrested him and lodged him in the Bangalore Central Jail.
The Special Investigation Team led by P.K. Singh investigated the case intensively from various angles.  The police presented a video of  a maid, being sexually assaulted twice in 2021, as key evidence in the court.
Prajwal's body marks, a mole on his left hand, cell phone records, the maid's clothes seized from the farmhouse, and the statements of the employees there, Prajwal's friends, and the victim, all of which were presented to the court by the government.
With all stages of the trial in the case having concluded on the 20th, Bangalore Special Court Judge Santosh Kajanan Bhatt pronounced Prajwal's conviction on August 2.
``Prajwal Revanna is sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10 lakh in the case of sexually assaulting the maid. The victim is ordered to pay Rs. 7 lakh as compensation,`` the judge ruled.
Despite his political clout and high-profile family background, digital and eyewitness evidence proved decisive in Prijwal Revanna’s escape.
Cellphone footage and CCTV footage were the main evidence to get him a life sentence. Today, digital devices are helping a lot in identifying criminals in various cases including robbery and sexual assault. That is what got Prajwal Revanna a life sentence.
As a former MP, he is currently lodged in a high-security cell. Moreover, he is required to wear only the clothes appropriate for prisoners. Yesterday morning, he was officially assigned prisoner number 15528.
This verdict is a stern warning to those who, despite having a high position and a strong political background, think that no one can do anything about them, especially those who plan to stage sexual atrocities against women!
