'Non-veg food must for healthy life'

Non-veg food is must for people to lead a healthy life as human beings are omnivores and not herbivores category, said IMA's newly formed Lifestyle Modification and Wellness Committee chairman, Pediatrician and nutrition expert Dr A Arunkumar.
The  Committee arranged one day Wellness Conclave for doctors for the first time at Erode on Sunday in which over 330 doctors from all over the state attended. IMA state president Abul Hassan, IMA former national vice president CN Raja, IMA state secretary Karthik Prabhu, Finance Secretary Gowrishankar and many experts in the wellness and nutrition subjects spoke.

Dr Arunkumar said that non veg food has more protein and vitamins. In fact, our body and teeth were in a condition of taking Non-veg food. Those who advocate veg food also consume milk, and its by products which came from animals and thus get required nutrition.

There is misconceptions among public about broiler chicks that it would lead to early puberty for girls.  Only vaccination was given to chicks to check diseases and no growth hormone was given.
Similarly, there is a misconception that some kind of rice, which is much costlier, or organic food or gur is good for diabetic patients. Now, even children suffer due to type 2 diabetes due to obesity.

Similarly, without physical activity many suffer with overweight. Veg or non-veg food is not a question. The question is how much food with resuired nutrition we eat. Now, diabetes, high BP, infertility, fatty liver, Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) etc need not only medication but also required food habit.
The conclave mainly focusses on nutrition, food habits and physical exercise etc which are also essential to get remedy from disease. The conclave is held to help doctors to guide their patients on the subject, he added.
