Principal Secretary to Government, Rural Development, Mrs. P. Amutha along with District Collector A Aravind inspected the ongoing development projects in the rural areas of Agatheeswaram and Thovalai blocks in Kanyakumari District and advised officials to ensure government benefits to people speedily.
She said as per the instruction of the Chief Minister, the development works of the Kanyakumari District Rural Development Agency and Mahalir Thittam, provision of loans and welfare assistance to women SHGs were reviewed.
In Agastheeswaram Panchayat Union, she inspected the construction work of two new classroom buildings at Nallur Government Primary School at a cost of Rs.18 30 lakh under the MLA fund. She directed the officials to complete the work speedily. She also visited the Nallur Grama Panchayat Office and inquired about the development works being carried out in the panchayat.
Subsequently, she queried about the progress of construction of apartments for poor at the Nainarporrai village in Thovalai block with DRDA officials. The project was announced by the Chief Minister in the Assembly.
Following this, she attended a consultation meeting with the departmental officers at the District Collectorate and warned them with taking departmental action if the government benefits did not reach speedily.
The event was attended by Mr. Saravanakumar, Rural Development Department Superintending Engineer, project directors SS Danapathy (DRDA), Michael Anthony Fernando (Mahalir Thittam), BDOs, engineers and local body leaders.
