Omni bus catches fire in the middle of the road causing panic in Coimbatore

A private omni bus operated by Akash Travels, en route from Tiruvannamalai to Coimbatore, suddenly caught fire this morning near Goldwins on Avinashi Road, causing panic among passengers and affecting traffic for about an hour.

The incident occurred when the driver noticed smoke and stopped the bus. The fire quickly spread, prompting the more than 20 passengers on board to disembark immediately.

Despite the swift response, the fire department was unable to save the bus, which was completely gutted by the time firefighters arrived. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire originated from the diesel tank due to an electrical accident.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the fire.
