Over 200 floriculturists held at Erode

Over 200 members of Sathy floriculturists association led by TN farmers protection movement president lawyer Eesan Murugasamy, were held near Erode Collectorate on Wednesday when they came to observe indefinite fast in the collectorate to press the Collector to take action on the officebearers of the association who involved in various irregularities in the association administration.
They alleged that the sangam was launched in 1999 and in 2013, two persons were elected as president and secretary respectively by 800 members.

They didn't conduct election to be held once in 3 years, fulfil poll promises, renew the registration of the sangam, submit accounts to the members, though the sangam earn thousands of rupees daily as toll from the flower trade which is famous in the state.

Above all, they started a new sangam in the same name with having 32 members.
By this way, they enjoyed crores of rupees of over 2000 farmer members of the area.
The affected ryots observed fast against the malpractices at Sathy and represented to officials many times.
But no action was taken.
So, they came to observe fast in the collectorate to press officials to take appropriate action on the 32 persons and hold election to the sangam under the supervision of government officials.
But the police arrested them. They would continue the stir till they get justice, they said.
