Parents told to introduce good books to children

Parents should introduce good books to their children after reading it, syggested retired college prof Devi Nachiyappan.She addressed at a function of releasing 25 children's books arranged by Bharathi Puthagalayam at the Erode Book Festival of Makkal Sindhanai Peravai at Erode CN College. The books were released and received by children.  Peravai president lawyer T Stalin Gunasekaran and many others attended the function. 

In her speech, she, daughter of renowned children's book writer Azha Valliappa, she said the teachers and parents should read good books and then recommend it to students. They should also explain the salient features of the books. 

Then only the students would read it. As the nation's future is in the hands of students, they should guide them properly by motivating them to read good books apart from textbooks. At the same time, more and more children's book writers should come up and they can also establish an association to  streamline release of good books for children at low cost, she suggested. Dr. Devarajan, Retired Director of Education Department,  Erode Arts College Economics HoD Dr Mani, short teller Saritha Jo, Prof Sharmila, academicians Kalai Kovan, Bharathi Elango, Sukumaran, Neethimani, Krupa Nandini, Umamaheswari, Santhanamurthy, Sharmiladevi, Lenin Thamizhkovan,  Theni Sundar, Prasanth, Kalaiarasi, Sankar,  and Nagarajan spoke.
