Mr. K. Sakthivel, Chairman of the Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL), led a prestigious Indian textile exporters delegation to Sri Lanka, aimed at boosting bilateral trade, promoting industry partnerships, and exploring new opportunities for textile exports.
Accompanying him were Mr. Chandrasekar, Vice Chairman of PDEXCIL, and Mr. Bharath Chrchargar, Export Panel Convener, along with senior members of FABEXA (Fabric Exporters Association), representing India’s leading fabric and home textile exporters.
The delegation met with the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka in Colombo, where fruitful discussions were held regarding expanding India’s textile exports to Sri Lanka. The Indian delegation presented the strength and diversity of India’s textile industry, especially in powerloom products and home textiles.
They also had a significant meeting with the Minister of Industries, Sri Lanka, during which both sides explored collaborative initiatives between Indian and Sri Lankan industry players, including joint ventures, skill development, knowledge exchange, and sustainable textile
practices.
Additionally, the Indian team interacted with Sri Lankan textile importers, garment manufacturers, and trade associations, discussing: Enhancing sourcing of Indian fabrics and made-ups, Facilitating B2B partnerships and direct trade channels, Participation in textile trade fairs and buyer-seller meets and Logistics and market access improvement strategies.
