Erode, July 20
Many government department pensioners who attended the pensioners grievance redressal meeting held at the collectorate on Tuesday recorded a strong protest against the absence of Collector or DRO in the meeting.
All government department pensioners association district president V Panneerselvam said the pensioners were happy that the meeting was convened after nearly 3 years gap due to corona problem.
So, they came with much expectation to get solution to their grievances. But, unfortunately, Collector Krishnan Unni went to Thalavadi to attend the Health Minister's programme. So, DRO Santoshini Chandra came to preside over the function. But, within a few minutes, she left the place by citing some official work. Irked over it, pensioners besieged her and complained that neither collector nor she showed any interest to solve the problems of pensioners who worked in various capacity in various departments for many years. They said that if the Collector or DRO attended, they would guide other department heads to solve the problems of pensioners then and there. So they could get some remedy. Even then, the DRO cited some official work and left the place after assuring to attend the meeting next time.
Then, the PA General to Collector Kumaran presided over the meeting and assured to inform the Collector about the grievances of the pensioners and try to convene similar meeting next time in the presence of Collector. Then, the pensioners left the place. Panneerselvam appealed to the collector to attend the next meeting fully to hear their problems.
