People have appreciated the relief work undertaken by the Tamil Nadu Government in the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung, said the Assembly Speaker, Mr. M. Appavu, on Wednesday.
Talking to media persons at the Coimbatore Airport, the Speaker pointed out that not only the people but also the Central team that had come to Chennai to survey the damages had also complimented the State Government's relief and rehabilitation efforts. Criticising the relief work would be tantamount to vulgarising the hard work of thousands of workers who had been engaged in the relief and rescue operations. The State Government had extended the maximum possible help to the affected people, he added. Adequate funds for relief work should be got from the Union Finance Minister, who was also a Tamil, he said.
