Pitch Burners Cricket Club conducts tourney for diffabled

The valediction ceremony was held on Monday for the winning teams in the cricket tournament series on behalf of the Pitch Burners Cricket Club in Coimbatore. The tournament is being held for the fourth consecutive year.

The cricket series on behalf of the Pitch Burners Cricket Club started on the 26th of last month at a private college in the Vattamalai Palayam area next to Thudiyalur to encourage young cricketers. 32 teams participated in the tournament. At the rate of 10 overs per team, 6 matches per day were played and in the final match, the ABT team played against the SKP Tidal Surge team.  ABT team that batted first scored 103 runs in 10 overs.

SKP Tidal Surge, batting with a target of 104, lost by 87 runs. The award ceremony was held for the winning teams. Executives of the Pitch Burners Cricket Club  Charles, Guruprasad and Gokul presided over the ceremony and presented cash prizes and trophies.

This was followed by a wheelchair cricket match for the differently-abled. The Tamil Nadu Wheelchair Cricket Club team batted and scored runs. The wheelchair-bound cricket players proved that disability was not a barrier to sports. To encourage them, various sports equipment was provided to the players. 

It is noteworthy that a special trophy was also presented to Prakash, a member of the ABT team, who played well in all the matches held.
