Hon’ble Union Minister of Finance, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman launched the book titled ‘Thiagarajar College - Opening the doors to education’ at the Platinum jubilee celebration of Thiagarajar College held in Madurai. The book was jointly authored by Mrs Uma Kannan, the President of the College, and Sandhya Sridhar, writer and editor.
Speaking on the occasion the Hon’ble Minister Ms Nirmala Sitharaman said, "Karumuttu Thiagarajan Chettiar was not just a dreamer, but also used his fame to bring the aesthetics of Cambridge to Madurai and that the presence of a visionary such as Thiagarajar Chettiar is a blessing for the institution. Madurai will gain from these individuals", she added.
The book lucidly espouses the vision of the founder and the Institute’s journey to excellence bringing out the emphasis that Thiagarajar College places on a value-based holistic approach to education and character building said, Smt. Mallika Srinivasan, Chairman, TAFE.
The book is a special tribute to the selfless service, dedication, and enormous contributions. The book portrays the struggles faced by the Founder, his motivation, and his commitment to preserving his vision, of quality education for everyone at the most affordable cost, said Dr UmaKannan, President, Thiagarajar College.
