Plea to conduct Caste Census

The TamilNadu Mutharaiyar Sangam has appealed to Central and State governments to conduct caste census and increase reservation quota for the Mutharaiyars. The outfit’s State President Maru.Baskar told media soon after their state special general council meeting held at suburb Manachanallur near Tiruchy on Sunday that a resolution to this effect was adopted at the meeting.

Another resolution wanted the central and state governments to jointly undertake the caste based census, during the census operation, and to draw the Government's attention in this regard, it was decided to hold a statewide conference at Vellore  during the next month.

They wanted the government to enlist all the 39 communities under the Mutharaiyar category and to give 10 percent exclusive reservation in education and jobs for them, or to establish the Mutharaiyar reconstruction board and to provide adequate reservation for them in education and jobs. 

It was decided to hold a demonstration in front of all the collectorates during the end of this month, demanding priority for Mutharaiyars in the post of Government boards, and other bodies and government pleaders.

The association also resolved to demand to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin to close down the TASMAC retail units and to make Tamilnadu addiction free.  Among others including Sangam's State General Secretary Seman Ambalam, Periya Gopal, Agri.Chellandi and Moorthy, Teachers Selvaraj, Mugilan, advocates  Sivaraj ,Ravichandran, Chandrasekaran, Dinesh, Ramesh Sakthivel, Govindaraj, and Arani Subbiramani and others spoke.
