Today, the first day of the Tamil month Chiththirai marks the Tamil New Year. On this occasion, the Governor of Tamil Nadu and the leaders of the political parties have extended their wishes to the people 
Governor of Tamil Nadu RN Ravi: 
Tamil New Year is celebrated every year on the first day of the month of 'Chithirai' in the Tamil calendar. This day marks the beginning of prosperity, peace and happiness in our lives. With the magnificence of our culture, heritage and rich heritage, this festival marks a new beginning towards our mission. And reminds us of our commitment to building a better nation.
