Powerloom Federation plea to CM to withdraw Power Tariff hike

Powerloom Federation plea to CM to withdraw Power Tariff hike

Federation of Tamil Nadu Powerloom Associations has decided to meet the Chief Minister to demand cancellation of power tariff hike for powerlooms. Its functionaries and media coordinator Kandhavel said that when the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Authority decided to revise the electricity tariff for power looms, they met the Chairman of the  Authority in Chennai and submitted a petition.

Next, they met the electricity minister in person and a petition was submitted requesting cancellation of electricity charges for power looms. In the Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai hearings held by the Tamil Authority, they  participated on behalf of the federation and insisted on the cancellation of power tariff hike for power looms. Following that, a request was made to personally meet the Chief Minister when he visited Tirupur.

The electricity charge has been hiked by Rs. 1.47 per unit for powerlooms. Due to this, there has been a 31 percent hike in tariff.  Due to this, we have been forced into an environment where we cannot run the power loom industry.

And there is a risk that all textile industries may go to other states. Already, due to the increase in the price of yarn, the textile industry and the powerloom industry dependent on it are in a state of destruction. In this case, the tariff hike will completely destroy the power loom industry.  Therefore, a request was made to meet the Chief Minister in person and highlight the effects of power tariff hike and cancel it.
