Prime Minister's Kisan Scheme: Why the Decline in Beneficiaries?

Prime Minister's Kisan Scheme: Why the Decline in Beneficiaries?

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, eligible farmers are given a fund of Rs 6,000 annually in three installments of Rs 2,000 each once every four months of the year.  Launched in February 2019, the funds provided through this scheme are transferred directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.RTI data revealed that in the last 3 years the number of beneficiaries of Prime Minister's Kisan scheme has declined by 67% during the 11th term. Social activists and farmers are also saddened to see the current status of this project, which was announced by the BJP as a mega project before the 2019 elections.

In 2019, when the scheme was launched, the number of beneficiaries was Rs.11.84 crore. OnlyRs. 3.87 crore farmers have received the 11th installment. In the recently released 12th installment, the number of users has dropped drastically. This decline started from the 6th term itself46.8 lakh farmers benefited in Tamil Nadu in 2019. In this case, only 23.04 lakh farmers have benefited this October. This is shocking. Looking at the 2022 statistics, it seems that half of the farmers have not benefited.

Why this decline? There does not appear to be any logical reason for this decline in the number of beneficiaries. Seeing this, the farmers have doubts that the central government has decided to end the scheme slowly. The Union Government should take necessary steps to run this scheme continually. The number of beneficiaries should be increased so that even a single deserving farmer is not left behind.
Can we hit the stomachs of farmers who feed everyone's stomachs-?
