The Health & Wellness Club and Youth Red Cross Club of PSGRKCW jointly organised a First Aid Awareness Program in collaboration with the ALERT NGO Team as part of the Mega Health Awareness Event held from August 18 to 22 at the Open Auditorium.
The ALERT NGO Goal is “Train One in Every Family in Emergency Response”, a mission set by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. In line with this visionary goal, 7019 students were trained on our campus , creating a generation of youngsters equipped with life-saving skills. Through this initiative, we ensured that every student is trained in first aid to act in times of need within society. We are happy to inform that we have generated 7019 community first responders who are now capable of handling medical emergencies in Coimbatore.
The training sessions specifically addressed how a non-medico and general public should respond to medical emergencies — understanding our role, what to do and what not to do in such situations. Students were trained in handling bleeding, fractures, life-threatening scenarios like choking and unconsciousness , along with CPR techniques through hands-on practice and live demonstrations.
