Public told to contribute for Namakku Name scheme

Coimbatore Corporation has arranged a meeting of NGOs and firms to mobilise fund under the CSR for Namakku Name scheme. Corporation Commissioner M Pratap, IT Commissioner Bupal Reddy, City Police Commissioner V Balakrishnan and SP Bathrinarayanan attended. Under the scheme, public can contribute fund for improving schools, health system, anganwadi centres, parks, community halls etc. 
Public can give 33 percent of the project cost and the rest would be shared by the government. The public can contribute 50 percent of the cost by way of cheque and the rest would be borne by the corporation. Public can also bear 100 percent of the cost. 
The civic body earned Rs 4.41 cr last year as against the target of Rs 4.11 cr. This year's target is Rs 4.11 cr. Pratap appealed to the public to donate liberally under the project. The City Police Commissioner and SP also sought public fund to buy 2 wheelers for police department, erect CC TV cameras, check posts etc.
