Red Cross opens state-of-the-art blood bank in Coimbatore

Dana, a blood bank of the Coimbatore district branch of the Indian Red Cross Society, was inaugurated by the District Collector, Mr. Kranthi Kumar Pati, here on Saturday. Those who addressed the gathering included Ms. Nandini Rangaswamy, Chairperson, Indian Red Cross Society; Mr. Ramaswamy,  MD, Roots; Mr. S. J. Balakrishnan and Mrs.Nirmala Sabapathi of the Ganga Hospital.
Dr. Murali, in his address, said that all components of the blood could be separated using state-of-the-art equipment at Dana. All essential facilities, right from electricity backup, had been provided for donors here, he added.  Mr.Mohan Shankar said that the uniqueness of the blood bank was its cutting-edge equipment.  An active database of donors would be maintained for quick sourcing of blood.
