HMS General Workers' Union District President S Manokaran has requested to bring into use the newly constructed eight-storey super specialty treatment center at the Erode Government Hospital. His statement: The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu inaugurated a newly constructed eight-storey additional hospital building at a cost of Rs 80 crore on March 13. But so far many of its departments are not functioning. It is also useless to the general public as it didn't have enough number of doctors and medical equipment. The collector should consider these problems and take steps to make the hospital fully useful to the people. A few days ago, an incident of daughter carrying mother for treatment in the hospital is going viral on social media. This situation has happened because even stretcher or wheel chairs are not provided there. The temporary workers there have heavy workload. A total of 300 workers have been appointed on contract basis and they are to be paid Rs 750 per day as per the contract. But only Rs 8000 per month is paid by the contract company. So many employees do not come to work. So, the existing workers are struggling with heavy workload due to less number of employees working in the GH. They even complained to the Joint Director of Health last week in this regard. So the collector should intervene and take steps to pay fair wages to them as per the contract.
