Rice mill owners represent against GST on rice

Rice Mill Owners Association represented to the minister of state for finance  Dr Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad to withdraw the GST on rice.In the presence of former MP CP Radhakrishnan, BJP farmers wing president GK Nagaraj, the  association president KP Sakthivel represented to the minister during his recent visit to Somanur, Coimbatore and pleaded to him to reduce the 5 percent GST on packed rice, wheat, dhall.

In his reply, the minister said the Modi rule granted foodgrains free of cost to 80 cr people during corona period. The GST was decided by the GST Council comprising the finance ministers of the states and not by the Centre. Despite, the representation would be taken to the Centre, he added.
