Dr. J. Radharkshnan, the Health Secretary, Tamilnadu Government has sent letters to District Collectors urging them to intensify measures to prevent the spread of Corona virus.The number of cases in Tamilnadu has increased from 22 on April 15, to 100 per day presently. There is a spurt in cases in Chennai and Chengalpattu District, the Health Secretary has said in his letter to the District Collectors.
As the increase in cases is likely to go up every day, the Health Department and local bodies should step up prevention activities. The number of cases per day in Chennai and Chengalpattu is nearing 100. On Tuesday in Chengalpattu the number of cases increased to 44 and 185 patients are under treatment currently, the Health Secretary has informed.
He further said that disease control activities should be intensified over the next few weeks. Wearing masks in public, adequate social distancing and adhering to standard Government Guidelines with regard to assembling in public places should be enforced by the District Collectors.
Those who have not taken the first, second or booster dose of the COVID vaccine should take them. The public should make use of vaccination camp to be held on June 12. Educational institutions and industries should follow the Government Guidelines strictly, Dr. Radhakrishnan has said in his letter.
