Rise in Yarn price hit wholesale Textile trade

The wholesale trade in Erode Gani Textile Market is held from Monday night to Tuesday evening when  hundreds of traders from different parts of Tamil Nadu, and  Kerala, Andhra, Karnataka and Maharashtra.  Up to Rs 1 crore trade would be held on normal days.  On special days like Pongal and Deepavali, sales would be Rs 5 crore per day. The business was severely affected due to the Corona impact. OnTuesday, the business, especially the wholesale trade,  is  suffering much due to the rise in yarn price and lack of  visitors from other states and retail sales are up to 25 percent, traders said.

Corpn takes step to collect Rs 7 crore tax arrearsErode, June 1: Erode Corporation has taken steps to collect Rs 7 cr property tax arrears from the residents. The civic body was collecting tax once in six months (April to September and October to March). In the second half (October-March), Rs 25.41 cr was collected (90 percent). So,  the officials took steps to collect the dues (Rs 7 cr) before June 30. If the dues are not remitted,  water supply would be disconnected and legal action would be taken, the officials said.
