The Road Safety Patrol of Nirmala College for Women, in collaboration with Tamil Nadu Police Traffic Wardens, organised a road safety awareness program on December 3 at Sungam Junction, Coimbatore.
Themed "Over Speeding, Drink & Drive," the event aimed to educate the public about safe driving practices and reduce road accidents.
The program featured innovative performances, including a folk dance (Kolattam) and a mime by 50 Road Safety Patrol Cadets, highlighting the dangers of over speeding, mobile phone usage while driving, and drunk driving. Placards displaying safety messages added to the campaign's impact. Dr. P Maheswari, Road Safety Patrol Officer, authored the lyrics for the folk dance, which creatively conveyed road safety measures to the audience.
A Sitrarasu, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Planning), commended the initiative for its unique approach to spreading road safety awareness. He urged the public to adhere to traffic rules and avoid reckless driving. College Secretary Rev. Sr. Dr. Kulandai Therese and Principal Rev. Sr. Dr. Mary Fabiola were among the dignitaries present.
The event was meticulously coordinated by Dr. K Sindhya, Dr. A Angel Christina, Leethiyal R., and A Shiny, with active participation from faculty, public, and traffic department officials. The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Maheswari, who expressed gratitude to all attendees for making the event a success.
