Rohit Sharma leads India to their 3rd Champions Trophy title

Rohit Sharma played a crucial role in India's victory in the 2025 Champions Trophy final against New Zealand, scoring 76 runs while chasing a target of 252. He was the top scorer in the match and was instrumental in securing India's win, earning him the Man of the Match award.
Before this, only three captains, West Indies' Clive Lloyd, Australia's Ricky Ponting, and India's MS Dhoni had won the Man of the Match award in a World Cup final. However, no captain had ever received this honour in a Champions Trophy final. With his performance, Rohit Sharma has now become the first captain to achieve this milestone in Champions Trophy history. He is also the fourth captain to win the Man of the Match award in the finals of ICC tournaments.
Additionally, Rohit Sharma has become the second Indian captain to win both the T20 World Cup (2024) and the Champions Trophy (2025). Before him, MS Dhoni had won the T20 World Cup (2007) and the Champions Trophy (2013). However, Dhoni also secured the ODI World Cup (2011), a feat Rohit Sharma has yet to accomplish.
Despite this, Rohit Sharma has achieved another unique milestone that even Dhoni could not. He is the only captain to lead the Indian team to the finals of all four major ICC tournaments. Notably, he is also the first captain in the world to accomplish this historic feat.
With these achievements, Rohit Sharma has cemented his legacy in Indian cricket history. Let’s wish him continued success!
